Mar 10, 2019· I often glue top cracks from the outside; i.e., without removing the top. When I do this, I always open the top/rib seam to allow the crack to close. Because your crack came out very nicely, I think you have very close wood-to-wood contact along the crack which gives a very strong glue joint. I don't think that cleats are necessary.
